Little Women will hold their 3rd Children’s Rights March on Parliament Hill in Ottawa on Tuesday June 1st, 2010 at 12:00 PM.
I am Alaina Podmorow. I am the founder of Little women for little women in Afghanistan. I founded little women in 2006, when I was 9 years old because I was horrified when I learned about the human rights violations that were happening to little girls just like me in Afghanistan.
I want to share our big story with you about our big trip to Ottawa. I have attached two posters explaining it and I am hoping you will do a story on us Little Women marching on Parliament hill. It is so important that Canadians understand their responsibility in taking action to restore Children’s Rights. I believe that basic human rights are what we are born with and all deserve. It does not matter if you are a girl in Afghanistan who is afraid to go to school or a boy in the Congo being forced to be a rebel or a child in India being sold off to work at the age of 7 in a sweat shop. None of this has to do with religion, culture or politics, this is about human rights violations and we must stop this. Politicians of all parties have agreed to march with us and I think that is fantastic. It has been my dream since I started Little Women to march with all Canadians from different political, religious and cultural backgrounds and stand together as one to make a powerful force to say yes to restoring universal human rights.
I am trying to get as many schools as I can to participate but it is very hard to get the word out and I am trying to get as many Canadians to stand up and come and support our march. Are you interested in our story? Please contact my mom or me and let me know. I really appreciate it. 250-766-0854, lw4lw@telus.net
